Easter is a Christian holiday that commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ from death. Jesus Christ laid aside his crown, He gave His life for us, a life of perfection, a life without sin or blemish, so that we can be saved.

Jesus suffered for our sins, he was nailed to the cross of Calvary, he took our pain and shame with him and He died for us. Romans 5:8 tell us that, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

He was buried and on the third day, he rose up from the grave with a mighty triumph over his foes, he defeated death. So this calls for a big celebration because we won and we have hope. Jesus Christ gave us salvation and hope by rising up from the grave and defeating death. He gave us hope of eternal life.

So while we are celebrating this season with candy, fancy hats, bunnies, and eggs, we should also think about the reason why Jesus died for us. We need to understand the meaning of His resurrection.

Easter represents the sacrificial moment when the only son of God, Jesus, took on upon himself the entire wrath that we deserve. He was pierced for our transgression, crushed for our iniquities, took on our death sentence, served the term and called it finished on the cross of Calvary! So we need to make it a time of repentance and remembrance. We need to confess and repent from our sins and look unto Jesus alone. We are not saved by ourselves; he saved us, (Ephesians 2:8). He paid the price for us on the cross of Calvary.

So this time of season, we need to think about our stand in Jesus and be right with him. Although we should be happy that Jesus Christ defeated the grave for us, but it shouldn’t be just a celebration alone, it is a time to call ourselves unto repentance. It is also a time to reminisce on everything God has done for us and be thankful. We should be thankful for the gift of life, the salvation of our soul, the hope of eternal life.

This is also a time to tell people about Jesus. To let them know that Jesus has already paid the price for them; he died for their sins so that they can be saved. It’s time to tell people that salvation is free and it is a gift from God. So all they need to do is to confess their sins, and forsake them, acknowledge that He died for their sin and resurrected, then they will be saved. You can send people in your neighborhoods invitations to come to your house for Easter feast, and then you can use that opportunity to tell them about Jesus. You can also invite people to church.

Also, let your children also know the reason why they are celebrating Easter, let them know the significant of the death of Jesus. You can buy some children books about Easter to read to them.

I hope you make your next Easter memorable and meaningful by celebrating it in a way God wants it with your family. Stay blessed!
