We are faced with numerous choices everyday and the choice we make affects our life in one way or the other, because we are shaped by the choices we make.

So are you at a cross road where you have to make a big and important decision for your life? Are you afraid of making a decision because you don’t want to look back and regret why you made that decision. Then you need God’s direction. As a Christian, here are things you can do as a help you make the right decision.

Seek God Help

First of all, you need to seek God’s help in prayer. Ask him to direct you. He is the way, the truth and the Life. He sees the things you can’t see and knows the things you don’t know. He sees the end right from the beginning. So if you want to make a right decision that you won’t later regret, then acknowledge God and ask him to lead while you follow. Proverb 3:5-6.

Listen To The Voice Of The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit helps us in time of weakness. So when the Holy Spirit is speaking to you, do not ignore him. Listen to him and he will help you make the right decision. Remember, not all that glitters are gold. The bible even tell us in Proverbs 14:11 that, “there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end is the way of death.” So do not lean unto your own understanding, listen to the still and silent voice within you.

Be Informed, Dig Out Relevant Information

We have talked about how God can help you, but you also have to help yourself. God will not do for you what you can easily do yourself. He doesn’t want us to be lazy. Even his direction may be for you to find relevant information on the things you want to make decision on. He may even open your eyes and give you understanding to see and hear the things that a carnal person can’t see or hear while searching for information. So before you make a decision on something, make sure you get relevant information and facts about that thing.

Take Your Time; Do Not Rush To Make a Decision

Take your time before making a decision. Take your time to pray to God for help and wait for him to give you a lead. Take your time to dig out the relevant information on the things you want to make decision on, do not be in haste. God tells us in proverb 19:2 that, “Desire without knowledge is not good, and whosoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.” So take your time before making decisions so that you won’t miss the way.

Be Strong and Believe In Yourself

After you have done the above listed things, and God has given you direction, you need to believe it. Our ways are not His ways and our though is not His thought (Isaiah 55:8-9). If you are always in doubt, it may be hard for you to make the right decision. Even if God has shown you the way already, you will find it hard to believe it. The bible tells us in James 1:5-8 that, “A double-minded person cannot receive anything from the Lord.
