It’s another sleepless night spent soothing your baby to sleep. Another grueling day running after your toddler. Yet another argument with your teenage son. This is the reality of motherhood. And sometimes it can feel as if your best efforts have been trampled apart in the daily mess of life.
Being a mom is by far one of the most difficult, yet significantly rewarding, gifts of God. And yes, it is a gift. And one that often causes those of us who are mothers to stand in awe of the precious love of the Father who bestowed such a wonderful blessing upon our lives.
But many days it can feel as if motherhood is taking a toll on your heart, mind and soul, ravaging every nerve and fiber of your being. Sometimes the feelings of defeat and inadequacy creep in, threatening to rob you of peace and joy.
These feelings are, of course, nothing but a tool of the devil to distract you from the truth. The reality is that God has a very different view of who you are and what you, as a mother, can be.
Today, I want to encourage you in the pursuit of motherhood. To lift up your eyes to the One who loves you abundantly, and who sees each tear, every drop of sweat, each ache of your heart. To remind you of the beauty and reward of parenting, and even more importantly, the call God has placed on your life as a mother and nurturer of your children’s souls.
I want to see your spirit feel refreshed and your heart grasp the mission you have and the gift that you are as a mother, as recorded in the very Word of God. I want you to realize that the tools of the enemy do not need to bring you down, but that you can stand on the truth of what the Bible says about moms and rest in the reality that God is not finished with your story.
